There is a part of me that will not accept this fate. My partner will not budge on the matter, despite the pain it causes me. I wish that things could be different. I have decided to get a dog, but even on this point he is unmoving, so I have decided that I will just go ahead with my plan to get a dog, despite what he wants. I am tired of being the one who always bends,giving up what I want so that someone else Can be happy instead of me. Simple. I don't put out. Its just that simple. So don't go getting narky at me because you got some kind of false impression and are all butt hurt about it when I don't jump on your cock. What made you think that I would ever be interested in someone like you anyway? I find all sorts of people interesting and I enjoy talking to them, but there are VERY few I would EVER sleep with. Sorry if that bruises your ego, but I have standards.Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-10025070752676939952012-04-16T08:39:00.003-07:002012-04-16T08:49:08.764-07:00Tomorrows to do list..thinking I will need one...

1. I have however come up with a solution that helps to alleviate a bit of the meatage onslaught - I am by no means the first person to ever do this but I thought I'd share it anyway...Vegie mince. it is basically the best way I have found to make meals that appeal to the palettes of meatavores and still make my quota of 50% meat free. It goes a little something like this.

2 large carrots, finely grated
2 large zucchinis, finely grated
6 largeish mushrooms, diced
6-7 finely chopped sundried tomatoes
one bunch of radishes, diced or grated
400g red kidney beans, crushed

This quantity makes enough for a huge lasagne or nachos for like 8 adults...so you can adjust the quantities of ingredients accordingly...

other things you can add are things like cauliflower, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, parsnips - but it depends on what you are trying to make as to whether you would use these things or not. For example, Pumpkin is good for lasagne not so great for nachos or pasta.

You could even add lentils to this for a lot of extra bulk, but basically this is what I use as a substitute to meat in things like nachos, lasagne, pasta, pies and stews. I use it just like you would use regular mince... It requires more cooking because of the extra liquids, but it is so worth it.

So there you have it...Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-68428539179930228502012-04-09T02:44:00.005-07:002012-04-09T02:55:58.022-07:00Fan Girl...At the risk of looking and sounding like a disgusting little fan-girl, I am utterly, utterly in love with Cristian Machado. They only had a size 8 1/2, but I bought them anyway, even though I am 9 1/2, thinking that I'd stretch them. I never did get around to it though as the first time I wore them they were very tight and I am very pain averse. I only wore them the once other than trying them on in the store, so they are pretty much pristine. there is some very minor creases and some virtually non existant wear on the soles from walking on the concrete. They are Black leather, size 8 1/2 women's Australian, they cost me $120 retail. I am looking for around $80 for these, but I will consider any offer on them. Not much point in keeping shoes around if I don't wear them. :) Postage will also have to be arranged. I am happy to send these overseas, but postage might add up.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-bSxulvepQqV2srGcrZ4o-7726W2xdCxEHLWcIfm0MBijzUgO9OQt8R2awgEfyTD5yHo1Sf5uij6c7rucPUcW590PwY-DNLGNH4uT53XxVjReLcUAEuzuLpxXIYEb-pmzJvtEOsYi7Mxy/s320/P3251177.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723774325648663874" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyJd0-eIa_Yl2K0lagMFpPWvfwDeiRFbgWN6c4u1_Fg99R1tus4F3vXH25DEeTrqPjG3G6cW7EiyAgSt3U41J0LvZizHAHHiNttp11pcv0aXwjVoHreuyQ4Th6ttLzfLJg5EaVdzwqJtFy/s320/P3251169.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723774322869645554" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWWFb1AyNDASeUWuxy2BbbD68m985MNqwVec1NRwydkhXyhMQ6CXjEHiHWUca3M7ff75Z69LCI2bEhWz1BXh8ScH_neSLqy72yS3-64ym0zxVjpvXeFAcvLcYyk4f1HPB_g8zAlAjn395u/s320/P3251170.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723774315807745666" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjym3h7kIq3uOWkE8btvpVbdoOMPSUakva2Gxd8ROsD7cEnfIi0F9fvd03toHRKc74qxDCIlT9lKqKV8rZPQy9py5ZQtT4TD9afJYS7a3GiWURPne04o1l0LffME6GbToGKsMM1QELLkWjN/s320/P3251168.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723774312993603842" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhER2eIN1ka1t3I2xKiZSBxTvJjVjZmw-v45ldm3ieQc2vv0cLeK6rSpBV8RlG0Oz7WM16W6aTa7HagfwnvOxU_jHvtqWjsNdhpT84oVh1l75rzhRGwZxV0j2vNRIxwYI3sHmuI0lo7hxBA/s320/P3251171.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5723774307774939202" />Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-33064781780946409012012-03-07T01:13:00.001-08:002012-03-07T01:13:40.389-08:00Soul MusicErynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-1087131256465861162012-03-06T19:04:00.007-08:002012-03-07T01:05:08.952-08:00It's one of those days. :)Lets break it down for some awesome independent covers!

Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-73026056830427463262012-02-07T03:43:00.000-08:002012-02-07T04:11:35.434-08:00What i hate most about Power PlayersIn the wonderful world of role play, there are many types of people you are likely to come across. People like myself, who take role play very seriously, tend to become their character for the duration of the session and sometimes even beyond, such as if you ask what my character would do in a given situation (I live with my Dungeon master, so I get these kinds of questions, and I do indeed become my character in order to answer the question).

To a certain extent, one expects most players to attempt to maximise their character's utility, by giving them good weapons, armour (if they use it) an other items. This helps to make characters just that little bit more uber and helps to differentiate the higher level characters from the lower (XP aside). It is a generally accepted thing that your character will have weaknesses, just like real people and that is the fun of role play - you take on the quirks of your character in order to play them as a unique and flawed individual. This is the heart and soul of role play.

Yet every now and then (and increasingly more often) you play a campaign with someone who just sucks balls. These people I call 'Power Players' and their sole goal in role play is to 'Kill shit and get stuff'. Now i have a number of issues with this mentality and style of role playing, and I will outline them now.

1)They have no respect for the versatility or subtitles of class. They normally play characters like Fighters, and will only be satisfied with that character if his strength is really high; completely ignoring the concept of being a martial warrior who's abilities lay in their speed and accuracy, or even giving them a quirky history, such as they always wanted to be a fighter, but childhood infirmity has made them weak, so they normally try and avoid combat - even though they are a fighter (bahaha!). Power players will sometimes play other classes (particularly if they are an 'experienced' power player) but generally, they lean towards the same sort of rule :- max'd out prime requisites or the character is 'shit'.

2) They apply a stock standard scaffold of 'what a fighter does' or 'what a mage does'to their characters, often ignoring the fact that their character has a history, a personality, and alignment...these things contribute to how you should play your character...they help you to determine what your character would do in a given situation. It also leads a lot of them to become hostile towards more subtle classes like Bards and Druids, because their mentality disallows them to conceive of the possibility that a character's strengths might actually lay in the ability of the player to STAY IN CHARACTER. Now some power players will occasionally call on some of their character's quirks and oddities and personality aspects at different times, but mostly, they are just them, playing a character on a sheet, and they rarely become their characters or expend any real effort in the playing of the role. This is irritating for the following reason.

3) Power players are without exception, the loudest and most obnoxious players in any given campaign. They are the ones who gloat when they kill something, or throw their dice across the table when they roll badly or get injured. Consequently they are normally the ones who eat all the Dorritos and drink all the Coke too. They make the game not fun for other people, and you never even get the benefit of meeting their characters...except in the rare instance when the person in question is forced to role play out of a sticky situation, in which case they are normally the arrogant one, attempting to use their charisma of 17 to influence someone, but doesn't actually know how to be charismatic and so expects the DM to just give it to them on the basis of them having a charisma of 17 (because apparently it doesn't matter what you say..its HOW you say it....)

In conclusion..power players suck.Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-48895805310945475112012-02-07T02:52:00.000-08:002012-02-07T02:53:06.753-08:00EcoORGANICS Cotton Yarn
This is a shout out to Vivian at ECOYARNS.com.au. Not only is she the most amazingly nice person on the planet, but her shop is fabulous! I am utterly addicted to her EcoORGANICS cotton range. It is sooo soft and smooshy and the colour range is phenomenal for a cotton. If you are a fan of cotton, I HIGHLY recommend this cotton. It is worth the investment for something that is going to last, and be super amazingly soft. And if you have ever had any doubt, I am here to assure you that cooking with duck eggs is WONDERFUL! That really shits me. If I had just studied it a bit more...but I was fairly complacent with sociology. I just get it and it makes sense to me. What fucked me up was contemporary theorists. I can never remember who said what... :P

REALLY happy with a HD for Homeostasis. I was worried about that one. Biology can be so fucking hard sometimes! Especially when you involve hormones. I really wish I had paid more attention when I was sorting my enrolment. For those who don't know I found out half way through semester (after I was already starting to struggle) that Homeostasis is a 200 unit....for 3rd year students...but by that point it was too late to change to one more manageable. In many ways i am glad I did it. I can add a bit of endocrinology to my degree, and I am NEVER taking another biology unit again. I don't know what I was thinking...I didn't even do bio in high school...I really screwed myself...but I got HD's so I didn't crash n burn at least. It is kind of funny that the units I thought I'd do badly in Idid well in and the units I thought I'd do well in I did poorly in...

My psych mark was 90...as it should be. If I had gotten any less I would have been very disappointed.
Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-61367290600145555132011-07-13T06:38:00.000-07:002011-07-13T06:41:39.523-07:00AtheismFor me, atheism is a very simple thing. Once you establish that all religions have an equal claim to the truth, you are left with the option to either pick one, which leaves the dilemma of certainty, or there is the choice to worship a non-specific deity - at which point, the question follows, if this entity wanted to be worshipped, wouldn't it have been so clear about such a thing, that no one would be able to argue and there would only be one religion?...so if this non-specific creator entity doesn't care enough to leave all people with no doubt as to its existence, it either doesn't exist, or doesn't care.Erynhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00054868510420847160noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-959595711214644879.post-70230368122481980322011-07-10T12:05:00.000-07:002011-07-10T12:11:19.467-07:00On a lighter note...My store has stock at the moment! mEdiCATeD mERiNO is officially in business! It was an argument between the below linked girl and someone I know about the difference between 20 weeks and 5 months and the age of this girls baby. Normally I wouldn't say something like this, but some people should NEVER be allowed to have children. I pity this girl and her whole family, her child and everyone connected with her.Such blatantly arrogant, ignorant, mind-numbingly belligerent behaviour and language on her part and her family's is a testament to her inability to provide a proper life for her offspring. This girl is a drop-kick. A deadbeat loser with no prospects and I can tell that JUST from the argument I witnessed (that and the fact she has almost as many pictures of her favourite alcoholic beverages as she does of her child). Sometimes I wonder what these people think of themselves. Whether they realise how stupid and useless they are, or if they really think they are hot shit. It never fails to amaze me how totally vapid some people are...I'd laugh...but it's not funny. This girl has a child... Someone who depends on her. Who is going to support her child? By that i mean who is going to make sure he can become all he can be? I truly hope he grows up to be even a fraction more worth while than his mother appears to be. I can't even say that despite her being stupid and totally without ambition, uneducated, irresponsible, violent and foul, that she is actually a really nice person, because I don't think I would EVER want to meet her. \rant

PS. (2007) found that overall, parenting quality was a far more reliable predictor of child outcomes than was a child’s involvement in non-relative care (Belsky et al), but ignoring the findings of this study would be unwise. The individual nature of a child’s experience means that being aware of any potential impact of childcare is both useful and important for catering to each child’s needs.

For those children in centre based care, the separation from the comfort and familiarity of parents into a sometimes alien and overwhelming environment can be very stressful. Research into the potential long term impacts of cortisol; a hormone secreted by the adrenal glands in times of stress, on health and personal wellbeing have led to interest in this area regarding children (Sims, Guilfoyle, and Parry, 2006). Sims et al’s (2006) study found correlation between child care quality and the levels of cortisol present over the course of the day in children attending centre based care for three or more days a week, where those attending high quality care showed a decrease in cortisol levels (or sometimes a less rapid increase) and those in lower quality care showed an increase in cortisol (Sims et al.). In particular, they found that those children, who demonstrated elevated cortisol levels over the course of the day, were attending care in which close bonds did not develop between carers and children particularly as a result of a more pronounced absence of respect for the children (Sims et al.) and also centres which did not have clear and well planned direction and delivery for their programmes (Sims et al.).

The use of cortisol as an indicator of the immediate impacts of the environment on the children is useful in two ways. Firstly, it allows a direct comparison between the child’s biological responses and their environment. It is clear from their study (Sims et al. 2006) that the quality of child care delivery does make a measurable difference in the child’s biological functioning, and it gives us an indicator of what areas need improvement by correlation (Sims et al.). Secondly, it gives a point from which predictions of future outcomes for children can potentially be made, following further research (Sims et al.). It is already known that high levels of cortisol can play a role in the formation of memory problems (Abercrombie et al. 2003; Takahashi et al. 2004; as cited in Sims et al. 2006), health problems (Adam 2003; Padgett and Glaser 2003; Kunz-Ebrecht et al. 2004; as cited in Sims et al.), Socio-emotional problems (Adam; Lueken and Lemery 2004; Young and Breslau 2004; Nicholson 2004; as cited in Sims et al.), behaviour problems (Adam; as cited in Sims et al.) and stress (Kristenson et al. 2004; as cited in Sims et al.), so these are the potential future issues for children experiencing elevated levels of cortisol, and further research may yet help determine the level at which cortisol actually causes damage (Sims et al.).

The effects of child care are potentially far reaching, yet difficult to discern. Living and growing within a western society means that our children are exposed daily to a range of experiences which will affect the people they become as adults. There is the possibility that children who spend time in child care centres may develop stronger literacy and numeracy skills, provided their care is of a high quality (Belsky et al. 2007). If it is not, or if they spend too much time in a centre based care environment, there is the chance of a development of behaviour problems (Belsky et al.). Belsky et al (2007) were very careful to point out in their study, that because of the vast number of influences on children as the move through school, it is almost impossible to isolate the effects of child care beyond a certain point, and Sims et al (2006) agrees that only inferences can be made about the future of any given child. However, both the Belsky et al (2007) study and the Sims et al (2006) study reinforce the need for quality child care in order to affect positive outcomes and to offset the negative outcomes.

Reference List

Belsky, J., Vandell, D.
